A four-member delegation from the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance of Antigua and Barbuda, led by Senator Dwayne George, the Junior Finance Minister, is participating in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group’s 2024 Spring meeting in Washington DC.
The delegation includes Rasona Davis Crump, Financial Secretary; Whitfield Harris Jr, Advisor; and Peter Abraham Jnr, Debt Manager.
The meetings, which started on Monday, April 15th, bring together central bankers, finance and development ministers, parliamentarians, private sector executives, civil society representatives, and academics, and are expected to conclude on Saturday, April 20th.
The IMF/World Bank Spring meetings are crucial as they provide a platform for global leaders to discuss critical issues such as the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
Among the highlights of the event was the Caribbean Governors Meeting, where Senator Dwayne George and his team from the Ministry of Finance showcased Antigua and Barbuda’s resilience and prosperity.
Senator George emphasized Antigua and Barbuda’s economic growth capacity and ability to overcome challenges in the face of adversity.
The meeting also serves as an opportunity to discuss strategies aimed at further enhancing the region’s development and cooperation with the World Bank.
As the meetings continue, stakeholders anticipate fruitful discussions and collaborations aimed at addressing the world’s most pressing economic challenges.
