The general public is informed by the Ministry of Education, that the City and Guilds Institute in the United Kingdom does not provide higher education qualifications.

This announcement was made in response to concerns raised by the Chairperson of the Free Movement Committee about the courses being offered by CICA International University Technical Centre of Excellence-City and Guilds Approved Centre located on Sir Sydney Walling Highway, particularly the Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Child Psychology.

Citizens and residents are advised that City and Guilds only offer Technical and Vocational subjects that lead to certification. City and Guilds has also stated that it provides an “Early Years Practitioner” course, which is not available to students outside of England.

The National Training Agency (NTA) and the Antigua and Barbuda National Accreditation Board (ABNAB) have received several inquiries about obtaining Skills Certificates with degrees (Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Child Psychology) awarded by CICA, but this will likely be impossible since the qualifications they have obtained are unrecognised in Antigua and Barbuda.

Furthermore, the CICA International University is not accredited by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries.
