This May, foodies and fans of the country’s national dish, Pepperpot and Fungee, are in for a treat as the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority proudly presents the inaugural competition in support of the “Eat Like A Local” program.

In collaboration with the Department of Culture, the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute, The Ministry of Tourism and the Antigua and Barbuda

Hotels and Tourism Association, this competition promises to be a celebration of Antigua and Barbuda’s fascinating cuisine and authentic local dishes.

Get ready to taste the unique mix of herbs and spices used by passionate chefs and cooks who prepare these dishes using traditional methods.

Residents of Antigua and Barbuda are invited to join the quest to uncover the top dining establishment that will be recognized for their mastery of this iconic dish.

Whether it’s a busy restaurant or a laid-back food stall, the winning establishment and the locations favored by the community will be part of the tourism marketing efforts, promoting the richness of Antigua and Barbuda’s local fare.

The competition will feature a blind-tasting showdown, with a discerning panel of international and nationally recognized chefs and cultural food experts judging the establishments on their Antigua and Barbuda flavor profile, taste, texture, technique, and creativity in presentation.

The top four establishments will face the ultimate test as they welcome the judging panel to their establishment for a second round of tastings, vying for the prestigious title of Antigua and Barbuda’s Best Pepperpot and Fungee.

But that’s not all! The Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Week (ABRW) kicks off from May 4 through Sunday, May 19, with a total of 65 restaurants featuring diverse cuisines, prix fixe menus, and special dining experiences for food-lovers.

With the support of sponsors like ACB Caribbean, Digicel, and Grace Foods, this year’s Restaurant Week promises to be bigger and better than ever.
