On Tuesday afternoon, a traffic accident occurred involving a school bus and a truck.
The incident took place on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway (Factory Road) near Charlie’s Gas Station.
The school bus was reportedly carrying around 25 students and was traveling eastward on the “Willikies Route” when it was hit by the truck traveling from east to west.
Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported. All the children, as well as the two adults aboard the bus – the driver and the conductor, were taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The driver reported soreness in one shoulder and underwent an X-ray to determine the severity of his injuries.
As of late afternoon on Tuesday, he was still at the hospital.
The children were also kept under observation, but it was not immediately reported whether any child was kept overnight at the hospital.
The condition of the truck driver and the other occupants of the vehicles involved in the multi-vehicle accident is still unknown.
The General Manager of the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board, Hubert Jarvis, confirmed the incident.
He also stated that the truck involved in the accident reportedly struck other vehicles in the process.
Further details regarding the cause of the accident and the extent of the damage are yet to be disclosed.
