Over the weekend, a group of talented artists and designers from Antigua and Barbuda and the Dominican Republic held a captivating exhibition titled “Two Countries, One Purpose”.

Spread across three venues from Friday to Sunday, the exhibition showcased an array of exquisite designer clothing, jewelry, shoes, paintings, carvings, and other visually stunning pieces.

The event was organized by the Embassy of the Dominican Republic, led by Ambassador Raquel Jacobo and her team, with the aim of bringing together the people of Antigua and Barbuda and the Dominican Republic through shared experiences.

The exhibition was a unique platform for participants to share their creativity and provide insights into the rich cultural heritage of both countries.

Top designers from the Dominican Republic showcased their works, including unique swimwear, designer outfits for both men and women, and shoes made from readily available materials such as canvass.

In addition, there were exclusive jewelry items made from stones found only in the Dominican Republic, such as larimar and ambar.

Antigua and Barbuda’s contributions to the exhibition included designer clothing, jewelry, art, and specially embroidered items.

The exhibition provided a glimpse into the creativity of the people of both countries through their tasteful and highly innovative works of art.

The opening ceremony took place at the ambassador’s residence at Trade Winds on Friday, where Maria Isabel Fernandez, a staff member at the embassy, expressed her gratitude for the participants’ contribution to the event.

She said, “Today, the Dominican Republic and Antigua and Barbuda join together to share their art, food, and music as an expression of our culture. Through your art, you transmit your emotions, vision, inspiration, and passion. Thank you for your participation in this unique event designed to bring our two peoples together through the common expression of art.”

The exhibition then moved to Bay Gardens in Hodges Bay on Saturday and concluded at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina on Sunday, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
