The Fourth Conference of Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27 to 30 will be covered by close to thirty major international news agencies.

The Head of the National SIDS4 Planning Committee, Ambassador to the United Nations, Dr. Aubrey Webson, mentioned that accreditation has been approved for news agencies such as BBC, CNN, and other similar world-recognized news outlets.

Antigua and Barbuda is expected to receive significant global attention during the conference, with over twenty-five news outlets accredited.

Furthermore, Ambassador Webson highlighted the positive economic impact of the conference, with nearly four thousand delegates expected to boost the local economy, particularly the hospitality sector.

He noted that SIDS4 delegates will occupy over 95 percent of the hotel rooms in the country, along with a large number of available Airbnb rooms.

Preparations for the conference are in their final stages, with organizers indicating an unprecedented security presence in and around the conference center.

The conference will host several presidents, prime ministers, and senior governmental officials, making it the largest conference to be held in the twin-island state.

Additionally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, E.P Chet Greene, provided reports on the readiness of the SIDS venue to receive delegates.

The Cabinet emphasized the need for complete preparedness by May 22, 2024, and announced plans to visit the conference center before the start of SIDS4 on May 27, 2024.

  1. I have a small streetside vending business to raise money for my education tuition; I hope some of these visitors stop by and purchase even a cold drink or bottle of water. Even small men and women need to benefit from this conference. Everybody has to eat and pay their bills.
