Sherfield Bowen
Jamal Pringle, the Leader of the United Progressive Party, has officially announced to Antigua. News that Sherfield Bowen, the Parliamentary Representative for St Phillip’s South, will be taking on the role of deputy leader.
The decision, which may be seen as controversial, was reached during a meeting held last night.
“When I look at the pool of persons that I have, when I look at what I am looking for, he is the best man,” Pringle said
Pringle stated that Bowen has consistently served as a role model and that his extensive expertise can be instrumental in effectively navigating the complex political landscape in Antigua and Barbuda.
“He has helped me with wisdom, an understanding of the law, and his professional background, I believe these are qualities and attributes that can help me,” he added
However, according to reports, the decision did not receive the expected welcome, as a number of party insiders were anticipating Richard Lewis, the Member of Parliament for St. John’s Rural West.
Sources report that Bowen was promised the deputy leadership position as compensation for his withdrawal, while Jonathan, who was allegedly being replaced, was assured that he would remain in that position.
Pringle denied the allegations, saying, “People will always speculate, and I cannot stop that. However, I have to now focus on where the party needs to go at this time”
Hon. Jamal Pringle is under the control of the Jezebel spirit in the party. He has chosen as directed. He should have chosen Richard Lewis. Somebody in that party means they don’t want Hon. Richard Lewis anywhere near leadership roles. I understand that Sherfield Bowen is like your mentor, Hon. Pringle, that doesn’t mean he to be the deputy. Listen to the voice of the people, Hon. Pringle!!
Gaston Browne don’t have to campaign hard now because his party will remain in government for a long time. Another five years for the ABLP iron fist Gaston.
