Flash Flood Warning in Effect Until 5pm

A warning for flash floods is currently in place for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Antigua and Barbuda until 5 PM today

The MET office issued the warning about an hour ago, saying that residents can expect either moderate or major flooding. Flash flooding is an extremely dangerous situation.

The MET office warns that residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas should move promptly to higher ground.

Residents residing near streams, creeks, and low-lying areas should take immediate precautions to safeguard life and property.

It is crucial not to try to cross flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or vehicle.

Keep in mind that just one foot of flowing water could be enough to sweep a car off the road.

When encountering flooded roads, exercise extreme caution, and if uncertain, it is wise to turn around and avoid the risk of drowning.

A tropical wave is causing unsettled conditions in the area.

These conditions are expected to persist throughout the morning before gradually diminishing in the afternoon.

There is a possibility of an additional 2-3 inches of rainfall in heavy downpours, leading to moderate to major flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas
