Today, a cargo ship flying an Antigua and Barbuda flag was struck by a missile in the Gulf of Aden, with suspicions that the attack was carried out by Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The missile hit the ship’s forward station, causing a fire that was later put out by the crew. A second missile was also fired at the ship but missed.

Additionally, individuals on small boats near the ship opened fire during the incident, but fortunately, no one on board was injured.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center also confirmed the attack and fire, stating that “damage control is underway.

The attack is believed to be the work of the Houthis, who have a history of delayed acknowledgments of attacks.

The Houthis have been targeting ships in the Red Sea corridor as a response to the Israel-Hamas conflict, claiming that these attacks are intended to support the Palestinians, despite the fact that the targeted ships have no direct involvement in the conflict.
