The local attorney hired by the family of Mannie James, who was fatally shot by the police, is Leon Chaku Syimster.
According to a report on local radio Observer, Syimster may soon file a lawsuit against the Police and Defence Force for wrongful death.
James, a well-known Jetski operator, was laid to rest last Thursday. He lost his life during a confrontation with the police and Defence Force officers. The police have admitted that at least one of the shots fired at James was from behind as he tried to flee.
This tragic incident occurred after James refused to pull over during a routine stop-and-search operation, leading to a high-speed pursuit.
The police and soldiers involved claim that they were fired upon and returned fire. James eventually abandoned his vehicle in Gray’s Farm and fled on foot.
He was fatally shot a short while later in a densely populated street, in front of horrified local residents, including his two young children. No weapon was found on James or in his vehicle.
First of all when persons don’t abide by the law what should the law enforcement officers do take gone shots and say thank you.If he wasn’t wrong why did he run and drive so far without stopping.
