A decision has been made to consolidate all charges against senior officer Tulip Horsford and her daughter La-Shanti Cooper, as they face a court case stemming from traffic offenses linked to a fatal accident.
The incident occurred on May 18, 2023, along All Saints Road near the John I Martin Race Track.
Cooper, reportedly driving a Toyota BB Motor car registered to Horsford, allegedly lost control of the vehicle while speeding from east to west, resulting in a collision with a column and severe injuries to passenger Keane Gregoire, who later succumbed to them in the hospital.
Cooper, holding only a learner’s permit, faces charges including driving without a licensed driver present, lacking proper insurance coverage, and causing Gregoire’s death due to dangerous driving.
Horsford, a veteran of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, is charged with permitting her daughter to operate her vehicle without the necessary insurance coverage.
Despite initial plans to separate the indictable charge of death by dangerous driving, the decision to consolidate the entire case has been made to avoid prejudice to the defendants, with committal proceedings scheduled for September.
