The organizers of the inaugural Artificial Intelligence conference at the University of the West Indies have received positive feedback and strong interest from academic communities on local, regional, and international levels.
Dr. Curtis Charles, the Dean of Academic Studies at UWI Five Island Campus, shared that numerous AI experts from academic and engineering backgrounds will gather in Antigua and Barbuda for the event.
Many of these experts are from the Caribbean but currently work outside the region.
Dr. Charles mentioned that this will be the first AI conference at UWI FIC and expressed excitement about bringing together Caribbean nationals who hold prominent positions in the technology sector to discuss digital transformation in the Caribbean during the age of AI and the 5th Industrial Revolution.
He also revealed that they have received an overwhelming response, with over 80 experts, mostly from the Caribbean, expressing their interest in attending and presenting papers.
Additionally, the conference has accepted about 40 academic research papers from various locations including the U.S., Canada, other UWI campuses, and even as far as Saudi Arabia.
