Prime Minister’s Chief Lionel Hurst
The government has already identified a successor who will replace Child and Adult Psychiatrist Dr James King who has been managing the affairs of the Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital for several years.
The matter was discussed during Thursday’s Post-Cabinet Press briefing. Prime Minister Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst said King’s successor hails from the nature isle of Dominica.
“I Believe this Psychiatrist comes out of Dominica and has the king of skills that are necessary in order to run a successful hospital and the hospital in Antigua needs a Psychiatrist, it cannot operate without one. we are moving to bring this individual in as soon as possible,” Hurst said.
He also revealed that King’s departure was amicable.
King apparently wrote to Legal Affairs Minister Sir Steadroy Benjamn on June 14 informing him of his decision to leave to leave the government service.
Reports in other information portal suggests that the letter did not directly address the pending departure.
The Legal Affairs Minister was also quoted saying Dr King has worked very well and it would be sad to see him leave.
