Prime Minister Gaston Browne
Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, expressed great pride in Antigua and Barbuda being chosen as the host for the OAS 55th General Assembly in June 2025.
PM Browne confirmed on Saturday that the country has been confirmed as the host of the event
This decision, made at the OAS 54th General Assembly in Asuncion, Paraguay, signifies our nation’s increasing significance on the global stage.
Browne also praised Ambassador Sir Ron Sanders for his influential contributions to the OAS, emphasizing the impact that Antigua and Barbuda has on regional, hemispheric, and international affairs.
“I think Sir Ron did an excellent job in presenting us”, Browne said on his radio program Saturday.
Notably, Colombia had also vied to host the assembly but later withdrew, paving the way for Antigua and Barbuda. This will be the country’s second major international conference, following the successful SIDS4 conference.
Furthermore, Browne highlighted the readiness of the American University of Antigua’s state-of-the-art conference center to host the OAS event.
He also called for a national effort and the involvement of volunteers, similar to the successful organization of the SIDS4 conference, to ensure the success of the OAS General Assembly.
