Bail adjusted for suspect in major wig theft case

11 July 2024 - 07:19

One of two women who are facing charges in connection with a larceny involving a large collection of wigs, had her bail conditions modified.

Moesha Wright and Natherna Rodgers are jointly charged with receiving wigs and other hair products worth $127,675, the high value making it an indictable offence.

The theft occurred between March 31 and April 1, when Everything Hair 268, a popular hair store on Old Parham Road, was burglarized. Over 100 wigs and hair products were reported stolen.

Initially granted bail in April for $50,000 each with a $5,000 cash component, Rodgers informed the court of her inability to meet the cash requirement.

In response, the Magistrate reduced her cash bail to $2,500. Wright, however, had already paid her $5,000 cash component.

The high value of the stolen goods makes this an indictable offense, elevating the case’s severity.

Originally scheduled for July 10, the committal hearing for both suspects has been adjourned to September 12.
