The Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee (ABNOC) has announced its team for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
‘Team Antigua Barbuda’ consists of five exceptional athletes will represent the nation from July 26 to August 11.
In athletics, Joella Lloyd has qualified for the female 100m event with a time of 11.06 seconds, setting a new National Record.
She becomes only the second female athlete in the country’s history to meet Olympic qualifying standards.
Cejhae Greene has secured his spot in the male 100m event with a qualifying time of 10.00 seconds, marking his third Olympic appearance. Greene has been honoured as the Flagbearer for the 2024 Paris Games.
Tiger Tyson will represent Antigua and Barbuda in Kiteboarding, a sailing event. Ranked among the top twenty in the world, Tyson qualified by securing second place at the 2023 PANAM Games in Santiago, Chile. This will be his Olympic debut, with strong medal prospects.
Two young athletes have been selected for Universality Places: Jadon Wuilliez in the men’s 100m Breaststroke and 14-year-old Ellie Shaw in the women’s 100m Breaststroke.
Joel Rayne will serve as Chef de Mission, with Thomas Greenaway as Team Manager. The delegation includes sport-specific officials, a team doctor, and a physiotherapist to support the athletes.
ABNOC President Chet Greene and Secretary General Cliff Williams will attend the IOC Congress on July 24, along with Prime Minister Gaston Browne.
Athletes in swimming and athletics will arrive two weeks early for a training camp hosted by Paman Sports, aimed at providing professional facilities and acclimatization opportunities.
The team’s leisure wear and tracksuit, featuring the national flag colours and sun emblem, have been unveiled. Athletes will compete in Adidas gear provided by the Olympic Solidarity uniform program.
The ABNOC expressed gratitude to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda for their support in preparing and sending the team to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
