Another Antiguan makes his mark in the aviation industry

Family members, tourism officials, and others converged at VC Bird International Airport earlier today to welcome another Antiguan who is making waves in the aviation industry.

Captain Bernel Simon touched down at the airport today, making his inaugural visit to his homeland as an American Airlines Captain.

The son of the soil, who hails from the village of Sea View Farm, was welcomed by tourism and airport officials along with his parents, Nelson and Bernita Simon, family, airline colleagues, and other well-wishers who joined in celebrating his achievement.

Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez said it’s a monumental occasion when an Antiguan excels at this level, noting that aviation studies are not cheap.

He also congratulated Simon’s parents and others who supported him along the journey.
