LIAT 2020 IS HERE

Prime Minister Gaston Browne, GG Sir Rodney Williams and Air Peace representative cuts cake at inaugural ceremony

Tomorrow, Tuesday, will mark a significant milestone in the history of Caribbean aviation as LIAT 2020 will commence its first scheduled flight.

The event will be marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the V.C Bird International Airport at 8:30 a.m

Tonight, an inauguration ceremony was held at the Sandals Grand Resort, where the airline received the blessings of the government and other dignitaries in attendance.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who has been the driving force behind LIAT 2020, was among those in attendance, along with Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez and representatives from Air Peace.

After years of intense lobbying, negotiations, and overcoming obstacles, LIAT 2020 is now poised to commence its scheduled flights, symbolizing a new era of regional connectivity and accessibility.

Tomorrow morning’s launch will set the stage for the first flight to depart for St Lucia.

This inaugural flight, which will carry government officials and media representatives, marks the beginning of a new chapter for LIAT 2020.

As the aircraft embarks on its journey to St Lucia, it will receive a prestigious water cannon salute upon arrival, further emphasizing the significance of this event to the regional aviation industry.

LIAT 2020 is poised to rejuvenate flagging regional connectivity and serve as a catalyst for economic and social development across the Caribbean.

Notably, LIAT 2020 is the result of a 30/70 partnership between the government of Antigua and Barbuda and Air Peace, with a substantial USD80 million investments earmarked to support this transformative venture.

Air Peace, a renowned Nigerian carrier, has committed to providing three E145s to LIAT 2020, underlining the collaborative and forward-thinking nature of this venture.

The details of this significant partnership signal a promising future for LIAT 2020 and the wider Caribbean aviation industry.
