Chief Executive Officer of LIAT 20 Hafsaf Abdulsalam
The newly rebranded LIAT 2020 will serve the Antigua/St Lucia route for the next two weeks, with the addition of more immediately after.
Chief Executive Officer Hafsaf Abdulsalam told the media on Tuesday flights will be launched in five additional islands.
Therese include St Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis.
“As we expand our routes we will be broadening further into larger Caribbean territories further into the south. September we will be adding 11 new destinations”, she explained.
The pending expansion will include Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. The carrier is also expected to expand its fleet.
“By the end of year one we plan to introduce our narrow body aircraft, that’s the new generation E2 195 aircraft, a 128 seater aircraft. You cannot get any better than that flying into this region. And that will see us expanding our flights further afield into Panama. Hopefully we will be able to receive Ecca’s Cat 1 status and we can start flying into Miami and Puerto Rico as well and the British Virgin Islands,” Abdusalam said.
The CEO also outlined that while ticket prices remain affordable the airline will be competitive.
“We want to be sustainable and profitable. We will endeavor to ensure our prices stay competitive and affordable to people. We are also seeking to see whatever exemptions we can secure from the other governments and this will be passed on to travelers.
