Ernesto failed to produce predicted rainfall

The initial forecast for Tropical Storm Ernesto predicted heavy rainfall, but it ended up producing strong wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour at VC Bird International Airport.

Orville Paige, a senior forecaster at the Met Office, reported that the storm passed just south of Antigua, bringing high winds but little rainfall.
The storm passed closest to Antigua between 9:00 am and 11:00 am on Tuesday, with the southern corridor of Antigua experiencing most of the rainfall.

However, Paige mentioned that there may have been higher rainfalls further south, especially near Orange Valley where 32 millimeters or 1.25 inches of rainfall were recorded.

In recent measurements, the rainfall amounts at different locations were recorded as follows:
• Cobbs Cross: 25.4 mm
• Dunbars: 16.9 mm
• Airport: 19.8 mm
• Diamond: 2.5 mm
• Barbuda: 1.3 mm

  1. God knows best, and He knows the effects that heavy/sustained rainfall would have on the already deplorable condition of our roads, for example. We are indeed blessed.
