Kung Fu Summer camp Underway

The Confucius Institute of Antigua and Barbuda has organized a kung fu summer camp that has attracted many young people and their parents.

The camp introduces participants to kung fu and the Chinese language, Mandarin.

Hosted at the Sir Novelle Richards Academy in Potters, the camp aims to promote a better understanding of Chinese culture and way of life in Antigua and Barbuda. The Antigua and Barbuda-China Friendship Association, led by Lady Williams, is jointly organizing the camp.

Joanna Li, the Chinese Director of the CIAB, expressed the institute’s delight in hosting the camp as part of its efforts to promote Chinese culture in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Sir Novelle Richards Academy already teaches Mandarin, and Li mentioned plans to introduce the language in two more schools in September: Clare Hall Secondary School and the Antigua Girls High School.

Cuthbert Forbes, representing the ABCFA, highlighted the camp as an opportunity to bridge the gap between Antigua and Barbuda and China, while promoting cultural understanding and relationships.

Listine Bradshaw, the Principal of SNRA, welcomed the opportunity for students to learn about Chinese culture and experience the benefits of kung fu practice.
