The family of the late 15-year-old Achazia James, who was found killed on Runaway Beach Sunday morning, has asked the public to show compassion as they go through this crucial time of grief.
In a statement posted on social media today (Monday), the family wrote that words cannot explain the pain and loss they continue to feel about the untimely and horrific loss of their loved one, who was just 15 years old.
“We are devastated and in shock. The public sharing the horrific photograph of the crime scene has added to the trauma we have been feeling. We urge everyone to kindly refrain from sharing these images,” the letter stated.
According to the family, sharing the photo on social media is insensitive, macabre, and multiplies the harrowing memories of Achazia’s murder.
“We call for empathy and the responsible use of social media in this extremely difficult time,” the letter said.
The family said that instead of sharing these images, “we urge members of the public to share information with the police to assist in their investigations. We call for swift justice for the person or persons who robbed us of our precious Achazia, who brought such light to our lives.”
Only when it hit home we know these things …. sorry 😞 for your lost. Family R. I. P little James
