Source State Media

In 2023, the Region of the Americas exceeded the vaccination coverages reported in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was made possible by the efforts of Antigua and Barbuda, and St. Kitts and Nevis. Director Dr. Jarbas Barbosa of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) commended both countries for their successful routine immunization coverage.

Dr. Barbosa expressed his appreciation in letters sent to the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, The Hon. Gaston Browne, and Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, The Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew.

These encouraging results were reported in the joint World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Estimates of National Immunization
