Government Senator Mary-Clare Hurst will tender her resignation in the coming weeks.

Hurst is leaving her position in Parliament for personal reasons.

She has been an inspiring figure who has broken through glass ceilings throughout her career, and her departure will leave a noticeable void in the political landscape.

Ms. Hurst’s accomplishments, from being the first in her family to obtain a college degree to her distinguished role as the first female Chairman of the board of the Port Authority of Antigua Barbuda and the first female General Secretary of the Antigua Barbuda Labor Party, are truly remarkable.

Her dedication to serving her country, her impactful work in turning around the Port Authority’s operations, and her commitment to mentoring young people have left a lasting legacy.

Someone close to her said it is truly disheartening to see her leave her post, and her absence will be felt not only by those in her country but also by international counterparts who her leadership and achievements have inspired.
