Former ABLP member backs Prime Minister’s stance on addressing crime and violence

Independent Member of Parliament Asot Michael has expressed his support for Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s public statement made on Tuesday evening

By Aabigale McIntosh

The elected MP for St. Peter posted a message on the Prime Minister’s Facebook page, stating, “Regardless of any political differences I may have had with the Prime Minister, this is not a time for political rhetoric or scoring cheap political points. There should be no blame placed on our security forces or the current government for the rise in crime we are facing. Instead, this is a crisis that requires every citizen, all stakeholders, and civil society to unite with the government and police to combat this scourge of crime.”

MP Michael also called for national unity and urged an all-hands-on-deck approach to addressing violence.

He further congratulated Prime Minister Browne for what he described as “an extraordinary and firm stance on this issue,” commending the Prime Minister’s “true leadership, especially in a time of crisis.”

  1. Yellow journalism at its best! Why the choice of this particular file photo to report on this current issue? Are you suggesting that by agreeing with the PM’s stance on criminal activity is tantamount to a personal endorsement of the PM? Shame on you! This is a serious issue of genuine interest to ALL Antiguans and Barbudans. Why then are you resorting to childish “journalism” by politizing such a serious national concern? Pardon me Sir, your boxers are showing!
