By Aabigale McIntosh
Almost 20,000 vouchers have been printed since the start of the National School Uniform Grant Programme which stated on July 8th.
Parents, who have not yet done so, are also being encouraged to complete the application process before the programme comes to a close on August 30th.
The School Uniform Grant Program supplies school-aged children with at least one uniform for the upcoming school year.
Supervisor of the program, Tanisha McKenzie-James, gives an overview of the initiative. She said there has been one challenge to date- parents showing up with expired ID’s.
“So we have been encouraging parents, before they make their way down to the Multi-Purpose Center, to ensure that they have a valid ID on them.”
She also added that the process is very efficient and only lasts a few minutes.
“Parents can come down to the Multi-Purpose Center, and they come, they fill out the applications, they’re in within five minutes, and they’re out within another five minutes,” She said.
As the countdown continues to the start of the new academic year, parents are urged to take full advantage of this key social program to ensure their children are fully prepared.
