Metropolitan University College of Medicine (MUCM), Antigua, Receives Accreditation from CAAM-HP

Metropolitan University College of Medicine (MUCM) is delighted to announce that it has received accreditation from The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).

This remarkable achievement was made possible by the gracious and vital support of Prime Minister Gaston Alfonso Browne and Education Minister Daryll Matthew. Their unwavering commitment to the development of higher education in Antigua has been instrumental in MUCM’s success. “We are immensely grateful to Prime Minister Browne and Minister Matthew for their vision and support, which have been crucial in reaching this milestone,” added Dr. Sandhu.

This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone in MUCM’s journey to become one of the leading institutions in medical education. MUCM’s vision is to produce physicians who are moral, ethical, compassionate, professional, knowledgeable, skillful, and committed to lifelong self-evaluation and learning. This accreditation affirms our commitment to these values and reinforces our dedication to providing high-quality medical education.

The growth of MUCM will be deeply rooted in local community engagement and the integration of knowledge and experiences from local physicians, whose expertise is invaluable to our educational model.

Venky Thirugnanam, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Governors, and Venkata Tirumal Devulapalli, Vice President of the Board, expressed their commitment to advancing MUCM’s mission. “We desire to bring hope and comfort to patients through research and the integration of innovative strategies that prolong life and enhance patient care. This is coupled with our dedication to community service, which remains at the core of everything we do,” said Mr. Thirugnanam.

Dean Dr. Gurpreet Sandhu plans to continue MUCM’s growth by closely collaborating with the local medical community, leveraging their invaluable expertise to elevate the quality of the medical program. “Our goal is to enhance the curriculum and clinical training by incorporating the latest advancements in medical science, ensuring that our graduates are not only well-prepared but also leaders in their field,” stated Dr. Sandhu.
