Voter Registration Portal Back Online In Barbuda

The voter registration unit in Barbuda is back online after a week-long outage. The unit, along with 12 others in Antigua, experienced technical and internet connectivity issues starting August 14.

While Antigua’s units were quickly restored, Barbuda’s remained offline.

On August 22, a team comprising technicians from the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) and officials from the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) traveled to Barbuda to address the problem.

The Canadian Bank Note (CBN), ABEC’s service provider, successfully identified and resolved the connectivity issues.

With the electoral management system now reactivated, the Barbuda unit has resumed all electoral services.

This resolution means all 17 registration units are fully functional, ensuring the smooth continuation of the expired voters’ ID card replacement programme that began on August 12.
