Barbuda Council rejects Land Adjudication, urges Barbudans to boycott process

*Press Release*

The Barbuda Council stands by its position which was communicated to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda several months ago concerning the adjudication of land in Barbuda.

The Barbuda Council will not support the said adjudication and encourages all Barbudans not to engage in the process which seeks to unilaterally abolish the Barbuda communal land system. The process is both biased and stacked against the best interest of Barbudans at home and in the diaspora.

The Government needs to understand that communities need to be consulted
on matters that affect their livelihood, culture and tradition.

The Barbuda Council is appalled at the devious and misleading press statement put out by the Government on state media pertaining to the involvement of the Barbuda Council.

There has been no discussion pertaining
to documents related to the adjudication process, nor has the Council consented for any of these documents to be available at its offices. No document concerning the adjudication is available from the Council.

The Barbuda Council will be mounting a legal challenge regarding the adjudication process.
Again, the Barbuda Council stands by its original position. “We do not support the adjudication of Barbuda’s land” and we encourage Barbudans not to comply or engage in any way in this process!

Barbuda’s lands are not for sale!!!

  1. This twin-island State has had a long history of dealing with thugs and vagabonds as is happening right now. It’s all about politics and the Barbuda squeak is just another chapter in the political game. They too shall be exposed for who and what they really are – Enemies of the State.
