Antigua and Barbuda and China deepen Relationship with the twinning of Cities

On the fringes of the Ministerial Conference of the 4th China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum in Hainan China (September 12 – 14, 2024), a bi-lateral meeting concluded with a signing ceremony of the letter of intent to establish a sister city relationship between Sanya City and St. John’s.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs E. P Chet Greene and the Vice Mayor of the People’s Government of Sanya City Yin Chengling signed the contract on behalf of the two cities.

According to the letter of intent, both parties agreed to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two cities based on mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit and to develop exchanges and cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, economy, trade, culture, and other fields.

Included in the letter of intent was a framework for leaders and relevant departments of both parties to maintain regular contact, conduct friendly consultations on exchanges, and cooperate on matters and issues of common concern.

The establishment of a sister city relationship between Sanya City and St. John’s will further promote multi-field cooperation between the two parties, effectively benefit the people of the two cities, and inject new impetus into friendly exchanges in the new era.
