Students from Antigua and Barbuda Selected to Represent Country in 2024 Essay Contest

Maliah Stuart & Chakyra Lambert

Two students from Antigua and Barbuda, Chakyra Lambert of Old Road Primary and Maliah Stuart of Christ the King High School, have been chosen to represent their country in the 2024 Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Children’s Essay Contest.

The contest required students to write a 500-word essay on the topic of “How Can My Country and Cruise Lines Work Together for More Sustainable Cruise Calls?”

Maliah Stuart, representing Antigua and Barbuda in the senior division, achieved third place in the regional segment. Her essay offered strategies for cruise lines and destination countries to collaborate on promoting sustainability in cruise tourism. This contest aims to involve young people in finding solutions to issues affecting the Caribbean’s tourism industry, focusing on this year’s theme of sustainability.

The Ministry of Tourism congratulates both national representatives for their hard work and dedication, with special recognition to Stuart for her exceptional performance on the regional stage. Antigua and Barbuda continues to support educational initiatives that empower youth to contribute to the sustainable growth of the tourism industry.
