A specialized team from the Organization of American States (OAS), led by Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the organization, Sir Ron Sanders, is currently in the country to make arrangements for the upcoming OAS General Assembly, which the country is scheduled to host in June next year.
During their three-day visit, the team will engage with senior government officials and inspect the conference site, including the new conference hall at the American University of Antigua and other relevant facilities.
The Advanced Team comprises Francisco Lainez, Advisor in charge of the Department of Conferences and Meeting Management; Jeannie S Rangel, OAS Chief Protocol Officer; Sandra Guaqueta, Travel Manager, Conference and Venue Specialist; and Fernando Sole, Head of Technical Communications.
Additionally, permanent observers from Europe, Africa, and Asia are anticipated to participate, bringing the estimated total number of attendees to between 1200 and 1600 people.
Sir Ron emphasized the benefits of hosting the conference in June, traditionally a slower month for the country, as it would bring economic advantages for the hotels, transportation sector, and the nation as a whole.
Furthermore, he mentioned the potential for conference attendees to extend their stay in Antigua and Barbuda, contributing further to the local economy.
A&U? Am I reading this right? Will A&B undergo significant constitutional changes between now and next June?🤔🤔
What an interesting turn of events
