Barbudan Charged with Causing Death by Reckless Driving Out on Bail

Barbudan resident 39-year-old Majid Thomas

Barbudan resident 39-year-old Majid Thomas has been granted bail after being charged with Causing Death by Reckless Driving.

He is accused of causing the tragic death of Denroy Morgan in a vehicular accident at the Cargo Port in Deep Water Harbour, St. John’s, in July of last year.

Reports indicate that Thomas was reversing a vehicle at the port when Morgan was pinned against a container, leading to his passing two weeks later.

Thomas appeared before the St John’s Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was granted bail in the sum of $50,000, with $3,000 to be paid in cash.

As part of his bail conditions, he must report to the police weekly and surrender his travel documents.

The case will resume in court on January 24, 2025, for committal proceedings to determine whether the matter will proceed to the High Court.
