Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his administration have expressed strong support for the construction of a Nikki Beach Resort and Spa Luxury property at Jolly Beach, backed by a US$400 million investment.
PM Browne told the crowds gathered during Wednesday’s ground-breaking ceremony that the new resort would significantly enhance the country’s tourism sector.
He believes that the project will be transformative in many ways and will serve as an anchor for our tourism product.
“We aim to elevate Antigua and Barbuda’s hospitality to the next level,” according to Browne, who also talked about his government’s goal of establishing the nation as a luxury destination, with the Nikki Beach Resort projected to be a flagship development, alongside other high-end projects currently underway or planned.
Browne noted that the government has successfully attracted substantial investment in tourism, including the current Nikki Beach project.
He remarked on the importance of this investment, stating it reflects the confidence the Ayre Group has in the nation.
The Ayre Group has been a significant investor in Antigua and Barbuda over the past decade, financing various projects, including the Canada Place building and the Tamarind Hills retreat facility.
Furthermore, the prime minister reiterated his government’s vision of bolstering the economy to enable more citizens to transition into the middle class as their financial status improves.
He asserted that the investment in the Nikki Beach Resort aligns with the goals of both the Calvin Ayre Group and the government, benefiting the entire population.
