Plans moving ahead for new Wellness Centre

It was just a little over two weeks ago when Cabinet shared their plans to purchase and transform the sixacre Kingdom Hall Centre into a new mental health facility, replacing Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital.

Cabinet confirmed this week that that purchase has been completed and discussions are already underway with experts to design the centre with the adequate design capabilities to serve its patients.

The Cabinet is prepared to budget as much as 5 million EC dollars in the 2025 budget to repurpose the Sea View Farm building for the benefit of mental health patients and others.

Cabinet Spokesperson Lionel Hurst says additional funds will more than likely be needed to retrofit the space.

This decision comes in response to longstanding concerns about the deteriorating conditions at Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital which was originally built in 1929.

While it will replace Clarevue a new name will be allocated to the facility that will address the needs of patients suffering from schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental illnesses, many of whom have little to no family support.

  1. Prayers for this project’s quick and sound completion so that deserving citizens may be served, and IMHO, the new facility should be named in honor of our PM’s loving mother.
