Atlantic Stays Calm as Hurricane Season Winds Down

Maritime operators and coastal communities can expect a quiet week ahead, according to Wednesday’s tropical weather outlook from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami.

In their 2 PM EDT assessment, forecasters reported no signs of tropical development across three major bodies of water – the North Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico – for the next seven-day period.

While this forecast brings welcome news for shipping routes and coastal regions, the NHC continues its regular monitoring schedule as the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season approaches its final weeks.

The season, which officially concludes on November 30, has seen varying periods of activity and calm.
