The Cabinet has accepted a request from the police for international help concerning the investigation into the death of Asot Michael, who was murdered two days ago

Michael was the parliamentary representative for the St. Peter’s constituency at the time of his passing.

He was found on Tuesday morning by his maid, with several stab wounds to his body.

Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin says he had discussions with the head of the police’s crime division, which led to him proposing to the Cabinet that they seek assistance from Scotland Yard, the UK’s crime-fighting agency, to participate in the investigation in Antigua and Barbuda.

“After consideration, the Cabinet authorized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reach out to the UK government for a Scotland Yard team to come to St. John’s and assist local law enforcement. They also want this team to lend their expertise to the investigations surrounding the violent deaths of two teenage girls—Achacia James from Yorks and Yanica Bridge—who were killed earlier this year,” Sir Steadroy explained.

In addition to Scotland Yard’s involvement, Sir Steadroy indicated that the government plans to hire a forensic pathologist to aid in certain areas of the case.

He noted discussions with local pathologist Dr. Lester Simon, who suggested three regional forensic pathologists from Jamaica, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.

However, the Attorney General clarified that they prefer to seek the services of an international forensic pathologist from the UK.

It is also possible for the family to choose their independent forensic pathologist if they wish.

The Attorney General dismissed rumors that anyone had been detained in connection with Michael’s death, stating, “The police have conducted numerous interviews as part of the ongoing investigation, but I have not been informed of any individuals being in custody” he said

I smiled at hearing that they will be assisting with the case for James and Bridge. But is this just news to let the public shut their mouths or are they truly assisting
