The caretaker for St Johns Rural West Micheal Joseph is now a senator. He was officially sworn in at the Government House moments ago. The ceremony is still ongoing.

In addition to his senatorial responsibilities, Joseph will also be appointed as Junior Minister in the Health Ministry, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare leadership.

Governor General Sir Rodney Williams says the swearing in marks a significant step in the nation’s commitment to the wellbeing of its citizens.

Senator Marie Clare Hurst says Joseph is one of the country’s finest sons and she is elated that he was given an opportunity to service

“When I look at the work he has done, I am convinced he will win his seat when elections are called. He is involved in every sphere. He told me a few months ago that he attended the Five Islands Primary. If you are talking about homegrown, then this is him right there”, she said

He is also involved in sports and education, including sponsoring after schools programs and so much more, according to Hurst

“He is involved hands on…if you look at his FB page you will see all that he has been doing. If you say Rural West, he is there” she said

Hurst says she will remain as a guide to the Joseph and the younger parliamentarians.
