Prison Officer Charged with Smuggling Money to Inmate

A corrections officer from Liberta has been charged with a serious breach of prison protocols after allegedly attempting to smuggle money to a prisoner.

Kerissa Allen was formally charged with unlawfully conveying articles into His Majesty’s Prison with the intent of delivering them to an inmate.

The alleged offense occurred on December 4, though the exact amount of money involved remains undisclosed.

Appearing before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel last week, Allen was granted bail under strict conditions.

The bail was set at $2,500, including a $500 cash component. Additional requirements include surrendering her travel documents, providing two sureties, and mandatory twice-weekly police station reporting.

Represented by Attorney Lawrence Daniel, Allen is scheduled to return to court on January 13, 2025, this time appearing before Magistrate Dexter Wason.
