Jnoure Craig has been sentenced to 34 years in prison for the murder of Amlack Lambert, a visually impaired 38-year-old who was shot and killed at a Nut Grove bar in February 2017.

The High Court convicted Craig in October after a trial that s dismantled his claims of innocence. Lambert was shot in his upper body and subsequently died from his injuries.

A key witness testified to seeing someone matching Craig’s description arguing with Lambert shortly before the shooting. Additional evidence indicated that Craig was armed with a gun when leaving the yard where the incident occurred.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Craig maintained his innocence. He initially told police he had an alibi, claiming to be in Gray’s Farm at the time of the murder. His defense team, led by attorneys Wendel Alexander and Wayne Benjamin Marsh, argued that Craig had no connection to Lambert and was not present during the shooting.

However, cell site records from Flow telecommunications directly contradicted Craig’s account, tracking his mobile phone to the Nut Grove area at the exact time of the incident.

During an unsworn statement, Craig introduced a last-minute explanation that he had lent his phone to someone – a detail he had not previously shared with police in 2017.

During the sentencing hearing, Justice Ann-Marie Smith initially contemplated a 30-year starting point, she ultimately increased the sentence to 34 years, emphasizing Lambert’s vulnerability and defencelessness.

Shooting an unarmed man is one thing, shooting a visually impaired man is a cowardly act. You wicked, me no k wa happen you deserve life. Some gangsters believe having a gun makes them a man, more like a manicoo if you ask me. Most of them are cowards anyway, cowards and bullies
