Antigua and Barbuda is set to welcome over 200 participants from 30 countries for the 13th meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and LACAC’s NAM/CAR and SAM aviation security and facilitation regional group.
The significant event, scheduled to take place from June 16 to June 20, 2025, will showcase the twin island nation as a key player in global aviation security discussions.
The conference aims to address pressing issues in aviation security and facilitate cooperation among member states across the region. Local officials are gearing up to ensure a successful gathering, which will see representatives from various sectors come together to share insights and strategies.
To bolster the nation’s readiness for the upcoming ICAO audit, all personnel within the oversight department have undergone comprehensive training and are expected to achieve certification by the end of 2024. This advancement symbolizes Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to enhancing its aviation safety standards.
The training initiatives will pave the way for rigorous audit inspections and testing at both international airports on the islands, ensuring compliance with ICAO regulations and reinforcing the safety of air travel in the region.
