LIAT, she said, is already changing the service landscape for passengers.

“Everyone is seeking to up their game. I flew a competitor airline and was given only a tiny water bottle. And because of LIAT 20, this airline has upped its game, offering more and this is because of LIAT 20,” she said

She said LIAT 20 will continue to maintain its high standard and reliable service.

Since its launch on October 6th, the airline has opened routes to 12 destinations.

On Friday, the airline will launch direct flights to Kingston, Jamaica.

Meanwhile, LIAT 20’s Chief Operations Officer, Kidus Melkamu said there is no limit in service and LIAT 20 is all about giving better service. “Our biggest target is to achieve the highest level of safety so people can travel from place to place, to meet families, and do business safely”, he said

Melkamu stated that when LIAT 20 was founded, the primary objective was not to compete or seize market share from other airlines. Instead, the focus was on fostering collaboration and serving travelers’ needs without undermining existing carriers.

“We want to grow the pie, not divide the pie. We want to promote travel within the Caribbean and beyond. We believe the Caribbean must have its own island for its international routes,” he said

Meanwhile, the Tourism Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Randall Mitchell, said the service represents the beginning of an exciting chapter in the region’s history

“One of the most exciting aspects of this new service is its direct impact on our nation. LIAT 20 will bring an additional 250 seats daily into the airport, equating to 1750 seats per week…” he said

He said the new service links Port of Spain to key Caribbean destinations, including St Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, St Vincent and Grenada
