Just two and a half months since its grand opening on October 3, the Barbuda International Airport (BIA) is already making significant strides in enhancing air travel to and from the island.
Today, several aircraft touched down on Barbuda
Just recently Judith Harris, the BIA Duty Manager, reports an impressive tally of 57 international flights, thanks to a diverse array of private jets that have embraced the new airport. From October to December 18, the airport has seen a total of 296 flights, welcoming 1,362 passengers eager to experience the beauty of Barbuda.
In comparison, from January to September this year, the previous airport in Codrington managed only 896 flights, with 4,497 passengers.
The recent opening of the Barbuda International Airport marks a new era for the island, finally accommodating international flights and expanding jet traffic.
As we look ahead, projections for next year suggest these numbers will soar, further establishing Barbuda as a premier destination for travelers from around the globe. The future is bright for Barbuda’s aviation scene!
Ok so I take it back, it looks like Barbuda’s airport is really making strides like a 100yards sprinter I am hoping that we will see a big difference in their future economic growth and the lively hood of the average Barbudan
If only private jets are coming in please stop calling it an international airport

Any airport with immigration and customs is an international airport
Y’all just be making comments for making comments sake. Do you even know what the definition of an international airport is? Regardless of private or commercial flights, the flights originated from destinations beyond the Caribbean region and to Anonymous’s point, there is a presence of customs and immigration which did not exist before. So negative! If you do not understand the aviation industry keep quiet.
The next step should be to capture the maintenance of those private jet operators. I know we are capable.
