Final Register of Electors for St. Peter Due Today

The final Register of Electors for the upcoming by-election on January 14 will be released today in the constituency.

Ian Hughes, Supervisor of Elections, noted that the staff of the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission worked late into the night on Tuesday to finalize and print the voters’ list for the election.

The final list, which includes the names and photo IDs of all eligible voters in the constituency, will be available in two formats: a complete list featuring all eligible voters and a disaggregated list that organizes names by the eleven polling stations set to be established. The disaggregated list will typically be arranged alphabetically for ease of access.

Hughes also indicated that the printing of the ballot papers would begin on Wednesday. There are two candidates nominated for the by-election: Rawdon Turner from the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party and George Wehner representing the United Progressive Party.

On election day, polling stations will operate from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, with vote counting expected to start approximately an hour later at Parham Primary School. The Returning Officer for the constituency is Pastor Stephen Samuel.

Hughes mentioned that over 4,700 individuals are registered to vote, but the final count will be updated after processing several late transfer requests. This by-election was necessitated by the death of Asot Michael, the previous representative for the constituency, on November 5.
