Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) is proud to announce a generous donation from the Antigua & Barbuda Renal Society, consisting of an angiography table and two lead aprons, valued at over fifteen thousand dollars.

This donation is a significant addition to SLBMC’s medical equipment and will greatly enhance the hospital’s capabilities in providing high-quality healthcare to its patients, particularly those with kidney-related conditions.

The angiography table, a state-of-the-art piece of medical equipment, will facilitate advanced diagnostic imaging procedures.

This will improve the accuracy and efficiency of treatments for patients requiring vascular intervention. Additionally, the two lead aprons will offer critical protection to our medical staff from radiation exposure during such procedures.

Dr. Ian Thomas, Nephrologist and Internist at SLBMC, expressed his gratitude for the donation:

“We are extremely grateful to the Antigua & Barbuda Renal Society for this very generous donation. The angiography table will enable us to perform more precise diagnostic procedures, while the lead aprons will ensure the safety of our healthcare team. This donation is an incredible asset to our operating theatre and will directly enhance the quality of care we provide to our patients.”

Salma Crump, Head of Marketing & Communications at SLBMC, added:
“The Antigua & Barbuda Renal Society has been an invaluable partner in supporting healthcare improvements in our community. This donation brings essential diagnostic tools closer to home for our patients, allowing us to provide advanced care right here in Antigua and Barbuda. We are excited to see the positive impact this will have not only on our renal services but our operating theatre generally — and are deeply appreciative of the Renal Society’s ongoing commitment to bettering the health of our people.”

The donation underscores the ongoing efforts of the Antigua & Barbuda Renal Society to support local healthcare initiatives and provide resources that enhance medical services for residents of Antigua and Barbuda.
