Tragic Shooting in Swetes Claims One Life, Leaves Another Injured

8 February 2025 - 05:27

A shooting in Swetes late last night resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man and left another seriously injured.

According to reports, the deceased—whose name will be withheld for now—was with his friend, 30-year-old Shaquille Williams from St. John’s, Antigua.

The two were standing by the roadside around 11:30 p.m. when a black car approached and fired several bullets, injuring both men.

The deceased suffered a single gunshot wound to the torso, just below the ribcage, and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Williams was shot in the face and shoulder. He remains hospitalized but is currently reported to be in stable condition.

An official police report is expected to be released later today.

  1. Two different news portals. Two completely different reports on the incident. The one involving a black car and the other a lone gunman on foot. Reporters in Antigua need to go back to school and once they graduate, they should be made to attend UWI (Five Islands) to pursue courses relevant to journalism. Sick and tired of our poor standards in this field!

  4. My cousin was there. The guy had came in on a black car and parked it a few blocks and walked in and shoot. He ran on foot, jumped back in the car and left the scene. So the black car issue is actually true. Dont be quick to send reporters to UWI
