Investigation Launched into Arrest of 82-Year-Old Featured in Viral Video”

6 March 2025 - 09:48

An 82-year-old driver, Steadman Scotland, has been charged with resisting arrest and battery following a dramatic incident at a local barbershop.

The arrest, captured on video and widely shared on social media, has sparked significant public outrage.

Eyewitnesses report the confrontation began over a minor traffic violation. Scotland, who had parked on a sidewalk, was approached by an officer who claimed he had taken too long to move his vehicle.

When questioned about the reason for his arrest, Scotland was abruptly grabbed, yanked from his seat, and forcibly removed from the barbershop.

Despite bystanders’ protests, the officer continued his aggressive approach, ultimately placing Scotland in the trunk of a police vehicle with assistance from three plain-clothed officers.

Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Frankie Thomas confirmed that both the police department and the Office of Professional Standards are investigating the matter.

The incident has raised serious questions about police conduct and the use of force against elderly individuals.

  1. I wonder if Police Officers, do not realise that they too live on a small island. Thus is easier for Karma to find then.

  2. I ask, what harm could an 82 year old man could cause to a Police Officer? I mean, after seeing things with my own eyes and the police saying different I will never trust the words of a police. This man couldn’t have done any harm to police

    • The way he was roughed up wasn’t necessary. Evil cops. Wicked men. Regardless even if he resisted arrest to treat the old man like this was not in good taste at all. But this is Antigua.

  3. It is about time that an investigation gets underway because nobody should be dragged like that and place in a trunk. So he couldnt have been allowed to be placed in the normal seat in the car? And i saw like they shoved him in a rough way. Over illegal packing?
