The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) Coast Guard has officially called off the search for three fishermen who went missing on February 21. After nearly two weeks of extensive aerial and maritime searches, the fate of Matthias Greenaway, Glenmore Matthew, and Clancy Samuel remains uncertain, alongside the missing vessel.
The announcement was made on Friday morning at Coast Guard Headquarters in St. John’s, where family members gathered, hoping for positive news.
The ABDF, in collaboration with regional partners, had conducted a thorough search operation but unfortunately could not locate the men or their vessel.
Despite the search efforts concluding, the Coast Guard has assured the families that they will remain vigilant for any developments in the situation. The community joins in mourning the loss and hopes for a resolution as they await any updates regarding the missing fishermen.
So no hope for them? Maybe they drift somewhere and they are on another island. What could have happened to them? Their families must be in agony. Oh boy. This is very sad. So what about neighbouring waters? This is not good. Their boat probably overturned in bad water. Alas. I still hope they can be found.
If they are still alive we will know eventually. Unfortunately there must be a cutoff point
This is extremely heartbreaking. You leave your home and never know what the day holds. I still hope and pray they are found alive.
