Accelerate Action: Empowering Women, Transforming Communities

International Women’s Day 2025 Message from Chaneil Imhoff, Founder of WISH – The Wadadli Initiative for Self-care and Healing.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, I am reminded of the incredible strength, resilience, and power that women hold within them.

This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” is a call to each of us to move beyond words and into meaningful, transformative action. It is a reminder that the time for change is not tomorrow, not someday, but now.

In Antigua and Barbuda, and across the globe, women have long been the backbone of our families, communities, and societies. Yet, too often, we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders in silence.

We navigate the complexities of life—balancing careers, families, and personal struggles—while facing societal expectations and stigmas that tell us to “be strong” and “keep going,” even when we are breaking inside.

At WISH, we believe that mental health is not a luxury; it is a fundamental human right. And for women, it is a critical pillar of our ability to thrive, lead, and inspire. But to truly empower women, we must accelerate action—to break the silence, to dismantle the stigmas, and to create spaces where women feel safe to prioritize their mental and emotional wellbeing.

This International Women’s Day, I call on every woman, every ally, and every community to take bold, intentional steps toward change:

Speak Up: Let us normalize conversations about mental health. Share your story, lend an ear, and create spaces where women feel seen, heard, and valued.

Support Each Other: Lift each other up. Whether it’s through mentorship, advocacy, or simply being there for a friend, your support can be a lifeline.

Demand Change: Advocate for policies and resources that prioritize women’s mental health. From workplaces to schools to healthcare systems, we need systems that support women’s holistic wellbeing.

Invest in Yourself: Self-care is not selfish; it is revolutionary. Take time to nurture your mind, body, and spirit. You cannot pour from an empty cup.

Together, we have the power to create an Antigua and Barbuda—and a world—where women are not just surviving but thriving. Where mental health is not a whispered secret but a celebrated priority. Where every woman feels empowered to seek help, to heal, and to dream without limits.

This is our moment to accelerate action. Let us move with urgency, with purpose, and with love. Let us honor the women who came before us, uplift the women beside us, and pave the way for the women who will follow.

Join me, join WISH, and join this global movement. Because when women rise, we all rise.

With hope and determination,
Chaneil Imhoff
