Statement from The Office of The Ecclesiastical Commission of Antigua and Barbuda on the Death of Chantel Crump

9-Year-Old Chantel Crump

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; the people He chose for His inheritance – Psalms 33:12

The Office of the Ecclesiastical Commission of Antigua and Barbuda expresses profound sadness over the news of the finding of the murdered body of Chantel Crump. To quote one of our commissioners, *It’s beyond sadness; It’s wickedness personified.”

We concur that this abduction and murder reflect the depth to which we have sunk as a society.

The Ecclesiastical Commission joins with the entire Christian community; Antigua Christian Council, Antigua and Barbuda Evangelical Alliance, South Leeward Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Association of Independent Churches of Antigua and Barbuda, and our varied Baptist fellowships in expressing condolences to Chantel’s family.

We pledge our support and prayers as we have done these last several hours since Chantel’s abduction.

Our children are our heritage and we need to protect them. The collaborative effort of government agencies and collective ministries of our denominations and churches is paramount. Let us as the church in Antigua fulfil the great commission as mandated by our Lord.

As a nation, we are called to repentance and to return to God that we may be forgiven and continue to bask in His blessings, that we may live in peace and harmony.

Dr. Emanuel Elizee, Chairman
Ecclesiastical Commission
